If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you are somehow involved in a local Vineyard church. What you may not know is that this Vineyard church is part of a larger family of churches known as the Vineyard movement.
Vineyard churches have a refreshing blend of unity and diversity. There are some qualities you will find at almost any Vineyard church: intimate worship, openness to the Holy Spirit, a high value placed on relationship and community. At the same time, because we value the autonomy of the local church, there will be wide variations of church size, buildings, music styles, preaching styles, and any number of other things. We believe this diversity is a strength, as it enables us to reach the many cities, towns and people groups of the UK and Ireland, with various forms and expressions of gathering together.
The Vineyard is organised in such a way as to help support and develop current and future churches, at a national, regional and local level.
Our National Directors, John & Debby Wright, lead the Vineyard Leadership Group.
The role of the Leadership Group is to meet together for the purpose of exercising the spiritual and trans-local authority given to them by God and recognised by the local Vineyard church. In particular, they will seek vision, drive direction and provide oversight for the movement in the UK & Ireland, as well as making strategic decisions.
We then have Regions which are overseen by a Regional Leader and within the regions are multiple Areas, with each one overseen by an Area Leader.
Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland exists to be a part of advancing the Kingdom of God through the work of local Vineyard churches who communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all they say and do.
We summarise this as Extending God’s Kingdom together, everywhere in every way.
Our vision We are a growing movement of churches, built on God’s transforming word, who worship God with passion, intimacy and expectation.
We are God’s children, empowered by his Spirit, extending his Kingdom together, everywhere in every way.
We will serve people, especially the poor and vulnerable, and communicate the goodness of Jesus with compassion and generosity.
We will make disciples, develop leaders, plant churches, and contribute to the blessing of the whole Body of Christ.
In this booklet we hope to share with you more of who we are, our history, but most importantly where we are going as a movement and what to expect from the Vineyard in the UK & Ireland.
